International Collectors Fair
Bratislava Collectors Days
In the days of 4 每 5 June, the Incheba exhibition grounds saw the premiere year of the International Collector＊s Fair - Bratislava Collector＊s Days 2004 organised under the auspices of the mayor of the capital of Bratislava Mr. Andrej Ďurkovský.
233 exhibitors from 16 countries /Slovakia 每 157, Czech Republic 每 48, other countries 每 25/ and 500 desk and stand presentations met at this interesting fair event, which was held in Slovakia for the first time.
Represented countries: Slovak Republic, Czec Republic, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Belarusia, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, Croatia, Switzerland, Canada, Bulgaria, Lithuania. The fair was visited by collectors from Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia.
The first year was organised on the occasion of Slovakia＊s admission to the European Union, an event which created new commercial opportunities even in this unusual field. That is why the idea of the fair was that of ※MEETING COLLECTORS IN THE NEW EUROPE§.
The accompanying expert programme had been prepared in cooperation with the Union of Slovak Philatelists (ZSF), the Slovak Postal Service, The Postal Museum and the company Zika 每 Album.
Within the accompanying expert programme, the international collectors Auction in the field of philately, numismatics, philocards and notaphilia took place together with the evaluation of the contests The nicest Slovak postal stamp of the year 2003 and The nicest Slovak occasional seal of the year 2003, on which the authors of particular awarded exhibits and the presidents of philatelist associations from Spain, Austria and Hungary were present.
The Bratislava Collectors Days together with its accompanying expert programme were highly estimated by native and foreign collectors and for many it was a pleasant surprise. Their appreciation was expressed during our personal meetings and moreover confirmed by the fact that various applications for the next year＊s fair have already been filled out.
Last but not least, we would like to thank to all our fellow-workers in various divisions , who have been very helpful in finding many important contacts and provided us with precious data and information which was needed in the course of organising this meaningful event.
At the valuation session of the BCD 2004 a new programme was prepared for the second year of the Bratislava Collectors Days, which will be held in the days of 27 每 28 May 2005. We hope that the next-year fair will be even richer in new contacts, more atractive and successful.
